Friday, June 25th: Thank you for your prayers for the Hungary Mission trip! Nine from the team are already in Europe, the other seven leave today from LAX. We are all meeting in Budapest tomorrow. We know that the Lord has gone before us and we pray that He uses each one of us powerfully for His glory! "This people I have formed for Myself, they shall declare My praise." Isaiah 43:21 We are praying for the church family from across the seas!
Monday, June 28th: We all (16 of us) arrived at the Bible College in Vajta yesterday! We had a great time of teaching, worship, and fellowship at Calvary Chapel Budapest yesterday. Pete Nelson, from The Kry delivered the sermon. It was good to see Pastor Phil and Joy Metzger. We are now fervently getting ready for the Bible conference which begins tonight. John and Meg & the team are setting up the rooms for the children (murals, paints, games, Bible curriculum) and Pastor Terry will be putting the finishing work on the teachings for the week. Sheila is going over her notes for a few teachings for the women. Pastor George & Icu are here, along with Don & Marta Patten. Please keep everyone in your prayers. We are all well, the children are doing great, we praise the Lord for His goodness and thank Him for the privilege of using us! We love you all and are praying for you several times daily.
Tuesday, June 29th: The Lord blessed the first night of the conference, "above and beyond". Pastor Terry is teaching out of the book of Acts. It is wonderful to worship the Lord together in Hungarian and English. It is a blessing to converse with the Hungarian people! The children's ministry went well also. The children and parents were surprised that they are able to keep the children's "VBS" t-shirts. Jeremy led the children in worship in Hungarian. The children loved the craft that they made, and our team was blessed by the answers the children gave to the question, "tell me one thing you know about Jesus". We praise God for the unity and fellowship of the team.
Wednesday, June 30th - We fall more in love with the people of Hungary daily. Leila, an orphan we were able to get to know three years ago, was given a scholarship by Living Word to attend Bible college here. We see that she is now graduated, working in the coffee house, and is planning to soon leave to be a missionary in the orphanages of Ethiopia. We praise God for His faithfulness to Leila and for so many other reports of praise. The teachings have been a blessing. The Hungarians of course, love soccer...Pastor Terry related a great story about the World Cup to drive home his sermon last night...there was much joy and laughter. Pastor George is translating for Pastor Terry and it is a joy to see him translate as Terry had a song and dance last night! The children's VBS is going amazingly well. We loved seeing Dennis and Shelley come in last night after a fun-filled night of playing games outside the castle on the field. Dennis was soaking wet from a water game, both had huge smiles on their faces. MIray, Meg, Jennifer and Izabella enjoyed baking palacsinta's...a Hungarian delicacy for the children. The weather has been sunny which allows the children to use the pool. This is a real treat for them as the majority of them can't afford to use a community pool at home. There was a lot of laughter at the pool yesterday as we had an unexpected cloudburst. The children's ministry classes are filled with Bible lessons, beaded bracelets, jeweled bags, pictures of the children as they enter and most importantly, the love of Jesus. We thank the Lord for the prayers of the saints back home.
Thursday, July 1st: The Lord continues to minister His love to the Hungarian people. Both children and adults hearts are being softened by the Holy Spirit. Time is going by so quickly, and as each day passes we realize how difficult it will be to leave these people that we have grown to love. Please check out the pictures/slideshow link in the right margin...we'll let the pictures do the talking for us. You are loved and prayed for daily!
Friday, July 2nd - We just finished our last night of ministry in Hungary. Pastor Terry just wrapped up his teachings...they were received well, praise the Lord. The children came in and sang two songs to the adults in the main study. Jeremy led them in Hungarian...the parents were incredibly blessed. John, Meg, and the team will be off to Kaposvar tomorrow to lead a VBS at Pastor George and Icus church. Terry and Sheila are off to England as Terry will be teaching at CC Leatherhead on the Fourth of July. We thank God for His faithfulness and we covet your prayers. Enjoy the pictures...Dennis will continue posting new ones!
Sunday, July 4th: Terry and I were so blessed by the people here at CC Leatherhead. It was great to see some familiar faces from our last visit, and of course an incredible blessing to see Pastor Matt, Dianna and their children. Church service went well, Terry had the privilege of teaching out of Joshua, chapter one....we had a 'bring and share' (potluck), after service where we had the opportunity to fellowship with the congregation and were blessed to meet a lot of new people in their congregation. We missed seeing two that were on holiday, Tony and Jean. We just returned from dinner with Matt and Dianna and thank the Lord for how He is using them to bring the Gospel to England. We were so blessed to see more pictures posted from the team in Kaposvar....the Lord is blessing abundantly! Happy Fourth of July everyone..here the English call it 'the rebellion'. We had one American family at church wearing red, white and blue! God bless all of you, you continue to be in our prayers.
Wednesday, July 7th: We heard from the team in Vesa that the VBS went well there also. We were rejoicing to hear that five children accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior...praise His Holy Name! We will meet up with most of the team at London Heathrow tomorrow and fly home together. Thanks for your prayers, you are all fellow laborers with us! We'll see you all on Sunday...God's blessings to you.
